Barack Obama

My letter to the next president is to Barack Obama. I believe that he has the best plan for the U.S today.

The first issue is the economic crisis that America now faces. Obama’s plan includes: Jump starting the economy by enacting a Windfall Profits Tax to provide a $1,000 emergency energy rebate to American families and to provide $50 billion to jumpstart the economy and prevent 1 million Americans from losing their jobs. Obama also includes providing the middle class with tax relief, creating new alternative energy programs and putting and end to mortgage fraud.

The second issue is healthcare in the United States. Barack Obama believes that every American has a right to affordable, accessible healthcare that works for the people and not just the insurance and drug companies. The Obama-Biden plan will promote public health by reducing costs and save a typical American family up to $2,500 as reforms phase in: 1) Lower drug costs by allowing the importation of safe medicines from other developed countries, increasing the use of generic drugs in public programs and taking on drug companies that block cheaper generic medicines from the market.
2) Require hospitals to collect and report health care cost and quality data.
3) Reduce the costs of catastrophic illnesses for employers and their employees. And, 4) reform the insurance market to increase competition by taking on anticompetitive activity that drives up prices without improving quality of care. It will require coverage of preventive services, including cancer screenings and increase state and local preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

The third issue is our dependence on foreign oil. The Obama-Biden comprehensive New Energy for America plan will: provide short-term relief to American families facing pain at the pump, help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future, within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined. Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars -- cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon -- on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America. Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025. And, implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

These issues are my reasons why i choose to support Obama for president in this year's election.

Theme

Theme

The theme of my novel Black Storm Comin’ by Diane Wilson describes that life is not always easy. The main character Colton goes through a lot of rough times. My author Diane Wilson mastered the term theme by describing this particular theme very well. First in the beginning of the novel, Colton’s dad ran away after accidentally shooting Colton. His dad ran away once before but came back. This time he didn’t come back. Second, Colton’s family later became very sick. His little brother dies. His mom gets so sick that she can’t eat or get out of bed. Finally, Colton has to learn to drive the wagon after his dad runs away. He had to step up and be in charge of their wagon and that was very hard for him. Colton goes through many rough times throughout this novel and the author Diane Wilson explains it well.
